Another month, another mountain! Well, almost. Sounds like they have been slacking off this last month. I mean only completing a measly 10km on Mount Snowdon where people were being carried away in the wind… of course I jest. These guys are absolutely smashing their way towards their goal of raising cash for Children’s charity e.a.c.h. both putting themselves both physically and mentally to the limit for others. They’re alright these boys, if they manage to get up that final mountain, I might even get an exercise bike. But until then, let’s drink and eat excessively for them!

Colin and Kieren’s Story
I think Kieren was using the shortest month of the year as an excuse to only run 36km. Or it could have been the mammoth 50km run he done at the end of January. Either way, he put in plenty of time at the gym for strength and conditioning, so there is no impact on his performance!
28 of Kieren’s kilometres were run with me, as I completed 119km this month.
Our first 5km together was along Felixstowe promenade on the evening of the 11th. Kieren was trying to help me get the sub 20 minutes I’ve been chasing. However I still wasn’t quite there, finishing in 20 minutes and 9 seconds. I’ve got all the excuses but ultimately some more interval training is needed.
The “Big Run” this month was in Wales, we had planned this one with a stay over so we could also do the ‘Y Promenâd, abermaw’ parkrun. We had been looking forward to this one as we were planning on running up and down snowdon twice using 4 different paths, completing 28km.

Weather conditions were against us but we made the journey anyway. We started on the Miners’ track as this included a steep climb. With 40mph winds and constant rain it made for a very difficult run. The paths were flooded by the lakes and the climb had water cascading down the rocks. We paused a short way up the climb trying to decide if this was a good idea. We watched below as 5 hikers struggled to avoid the flooded paths. As one jumped, the wind carried him into the lake. We knew at this point to turn round and make our way back. We only completed 10km on the mountain that day!

The following day we travelled down to Barmouth for the parkrun. We left extra early so we could get some more running in, to make up for the previous day. We ran 8km before joining 69 other parkrunners on the start line. Kieren flew off the start line and finished 1st, while I was a couple minutes behind in 7th.

On the 26th I joined the Harmonious Society for their track night, my chance to get on top of these 5km intervals…
Kieren spent the last weekend of the month in Poland, and even squeezed in a 6.5km run around the Auschwitz museum.
We know things are pretty tight. Even if you are reading this then we already appreciate your support. But if you can spare a few pennies to support this great cause, it would be greatly received. If not, how about sharing this story with someone else?
Thank you! From all of the Pigs x
