It’s been a busy few months here at Pigs HQ, but we can confirm that we are back with a banger!
Mark Burrow’s Bunch of Psychos has been a delicious treat to work on. Now I know I haven’t learnt my lesson of snapping our best talent to join the Pigs Editorial team, but I’m a fan of filthy and pretty things. Bunch of Psychos is exactly that. Mark himself, is definitely the latter!
This novel offers a fictional observation at the neglected social realism of our country. Never mind the unrepresented and marginalised, Burrow has delivered a read that captures the story of too many, ignored by a society more hellbent on blame than prevention. Not that his expertly crafted characters care. They have all to readily accepted their place in society just as readers will accept this book in their collection.
Treat yourself tomorrow as this fantastic bit of lit drops!
Jay is tired of fools at school and on the estate teasing him about his no-name trainers. His clothes. Hair. Everything. It’s not as if he can hide away in the flat as his mum, Carole, is back in full alkie mode.
At least things might improve when Jay’s older brother, Mike, is released from young offenders.
Except Mike’s also had enough. He doesn’t want to drift back into his old life with his mates, and he soon realises he can’t trust Carole’s promises to change her partying ways.
It’s why Mike decides to take Jay with him and leave all the psychos behind.

Mark Burrow’s short stories have appeared in titles including Underbelly Press, Spinners, Frazzled Lit and AEOS Magazine. His novella, Coo, was published in 2022. Born in London, he currently lives in Oxfordshire in the UK.
